Disturbing footage shows horrific abuse as sheep are kicked, punched and dragged on Scottish farms

The video shows shearers punching and kicking sheep, routinely stamping on their necks and kicking them, hitting terrified sheep in the face with clippers and throwing them off trailers, with some suffering appalling wounds.

MARK MCGIVERN: ‘The Scottish SPCA are probing claims of appalling cruelty at Scottish sheep farms. Undercover operatives of animal welfare charity PETA Asia posed as farm workers to secretly film sheep shearers and farmhands punching and kicking sheep, routinely stamping on their necks and kicking them. Video also shows wool workers hitting terrified sheep in the face with clippers and throwing them off shearing trailers, with some suffering appalling wounds.

The footage from 24 Scottish sheep farms was gathered after investigators signed up with a shearing contractor earlier this year before touring farms. PETA Asia senior vice president Jason Baker said: “After exposing cruelty within the English wool industry, we’ve found the same horrifying abuse of sheep at farms in Scotland.

“The production of all wool – no matter where it originated or what ‘ethical’ or ‘responsibly sourced’ claims are made on its label – spells extreme suffering and death for millions of gentle sheep and lambs”… PETA Asia have asked the Scottish SPCA to file criminal charges against the workers for apparent violations of laws prohibiting cruelty to animals’.
